Publishing Assistant – Hoxton Mini Press

Closing Date: 6 February

Salary: £22,000-£26,000

Location: London


If you’re looking for hands-on experience then this is the perfect role for you!


You’ll be helping with general admin, managing emails, contacting freelancers, creating graphics and undertaking research, as well as assisting with proofreading and fact-checking. You will also be helping with orders and image licensing as well as coordinating shoots and events.


You will get to learn and have hands-on experience in production, e-commerce, editorial and design.


You must be organised, communicative, have great time-management skills, a calm attitude and an eye for detail, as well as be able to manage a fast paced and varied workload. You must be able to multitask, have a basic understanding of Excel and Photoshop as well as a strong interest in visual culture and in art, photography and design.

Journals Editorial Assistant – Bristol University Press

Closing Date: 6 February

Salary: £21,686–£24,174

Location: Bristol


Bristol University Press (BUP) is looking for a Journals Editorial Assistant.


You will be providing administrative support for specific journals working closely with their editorial team and boards. Key tasks include facilitating the progress of papers through the online submission and peer review system, handling queries, providing support for the editorial team and board meetings and assisting BUP colleagues in promoting journals via social media or e-marketing channels.


The ideal candidate will have strong clerical, IT and organisational skills and the ability to juggle competing priorities. Experience of working in an administrative or clerical role in a busy office environment is essential. Ideally, you will have some knowledge of journal editorial and publishing processes and an interest in marketing and customer service.

Production Assistant – Bloomsbury (Adult Trade & Special Interest Division)

Salary: £23,000

Location: London (Hybrid working pattern or fully office based)


Bloomsbury is looking for a Production Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate interested in a career in trade production.


Reporting to the Mono Production Manager, key tasks will include costing and processing reprints, handling backlist e-book creation, some Proof of Delivery and providing administrative support to the team.


The ideal candidate will have excellent organisational and time-management skills, proven IT skills (knowledge of Word and Excel essential), and a keen eye for detail. It is desirable to have completed a publishing course which included an element of print production training.

Sales and Marketing Assistant – University of Wales Press

Closing Date: 7 February

Salary: £18,000 +

Location: Cardiff, but should be able and prepared to work at home and at other locations as necessary (requests for flexibility may be considered).


The University of Wales Press (UWP) is looking to appoint a Sales and Marketing Assistant.


You will be the first point of contact for the department, liaising with authors, the media, sales partners and other internal and external stakeholders, and dealing with the crucial day-to-day activities that underpin the department’s abilities. This includes liaising with and encouraging authors, managing all bibliographical and metadata and assisting in subject-led campaigns, promotions via distributors and retailers, website offers and attendance at conferences and other events.


The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, be self-motivated, have a keen eye for detail and a passion to make a difference through effective publicity and sales. Written and spoken Welsh, or the propensity to learn, is desirable.

Editorial Intern – Embla Books/Nine Eight Publishing (Bonnier Books UK)

Closing Date: 7 February

Salary: £21,000

Location: London


Bonnier UK is looking for an Editorial Intern to work with their Nine Eight Books/Embla Books imprint.


You will be working across a wide range of genres, both fiction and non-fiction, and learning about all the steps in the book publishing process. This includes general administrative support for the editorial teams, reviewing material and contributing to editorial meetings and discussions, assisting with cover design and desk editing, assisting the team with title production tasks, picture research and clearance and much more!


The ideal candidate will be energetic and eager to learn, have a passion for stories and storytelling and be able to demonstrate great organisational as well as impeccable communication skills.


This opportunity is only open to individuals from a group that is under-represented in the creative industries.


The successful candidate for this opportunity will also participate in a Creative Access support programme that sits alongside workplace training. This includes a programme of induction training, monthly masterclasses, wellbeing support, buddying/mentoring and more.
