Publishing Assistant Apprentice – Adam Matthew Digital

Closing Date: 22 July

Salary: £16,000

Location: Marlborough Wilts (remote two days per week)



Adam Matthew Digital is looking for a Publishing Assistant Apprentice to join their team!


The successful candidate will be researching, writing and proofing editorial content for projects as well as checking digital primary source images, audiovisual material, XML metadata and transcriptions. Responsibilities of the role include organising and creating metadata for archival collections and liaising with technical partners and suppliers to provide feedback on outsourced work. In addition to this, you will be running technical processes for generating OCR and XML and testing the accuracy and user experience of digital resources and providing feedback. There will also be the opportunity to visit archives, attend and report on conferences, conduct research on current trends in digital scholarship and contribute to the company’s social media objectives.


The ideal candidate will need organisational and time-management skills, have good communication skills (both written and speaking) and have the ability to problem solve. The successful candidate will need to learn quickly, have excellent attention to detail and some knowledge of MS Excel. Editorial Assistant Apprentice – Alain Charles Publishing

Salary: £18,000

Alain Charles Publishing is looking for an Editorial Assistant Apprentice to join their team!

Responsibilities of the role include proofreading and editing copy, writing original content and coordinating with various departments to ensure the magazine is ready. In addition, there will be the chance to attend conferences, exhibitions and events, support the editorial team through content and magazine production and gain an understanding of the company’s customers.


The ideal candidate will preferably have some experience in journalism, content creation or a similar role within a cross-platform environment. You will need to have exceptional written and spoken communication skills, be organised and self-motivated and have great attention to detail. An understanding of social media and digital developments would be a bonus as would engagement in current affairs such as an interest in geopolitics, economics and other industry sectors. Children's Communications Assistant – Faber & Faber

Closing Date: 24 July

Salary: £26,350

Location: London (remote two days per week)


A great opportunity has arisen to join Faber Children’s Publishing team as a Communications Assistant to support campaigns across the Faber Children’s list.


Responsibilities of the role include: general administrative and organisational support for the team (e.g. assisting with mailings, handling publicity and marketing enquiries); supporting the team with organisation and promotion of events and launches; and assisting on key publicity campaigns and working towards managing your own campaigns. You will also have the opportunity to research key children’s media contacts and partnerships, build and manage relationships with bloggers, maintain the children’s blogger database and coordinate blog tours. Other responsibilities will include growing the social media channels and leading on the monthly newsletter for Faber Children’s, looking after awards submissions for the Faber Children’s list and working closely with library and school reading organisations to highlight key Faber Children’s titles.


The role is ideally for someone who can demonstrate creativity and good organisation skills. The successful candidate will also have a love of children’s books and an interest in publishing and connecting books to readers. Sales Coordinator – Taylor and Francis

Are you looking for your first role in publishing? Taylor and Francis are looking for a superstar co-ordinator to join their team supporting the sales team selling print and e-books to corporate and professional customers worldwide. The team are looking for someone who can work collaboratively with the sales and production teams across the company as well as authors. The successful candidate will be creating marketing flyers, managing orders and ensuring that customers are positively engaged and having their needs met.

Publisher's Assistant – Sweet Cherry Publishing

Salary: £20,000

Location: Leicester


Looking to start your career in children’s publishing and gain experience in bookselling? Sweet Cherry Publishing is looking for an organised, highly motivated and enthusiastic person to join their team!


The successful candidate will be responsible for liaising with internal colleagues and external contacts, working collaboratively with all areas of the business.


The role is ideal for someone who has excellent numerical skills and demonstrates a passion for reading books. Strong administrative skills and excellent communication skills whilst interacting with internal and external colleagues are key. You will need to have strong organisational and time-management skills together with the ability to work under pressure, to prioritise and to meet deadlines. Other skills include working well as part of a team, taking a proactive approach to problem solving and good attention to detail. The successful candidate should also demonstrate excellent IT skills such as the ability to learn new software and processes, be proficient in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets/Presentation and have experience using Adobe Acrobat.
