PMJ and Del Rey to Publish SenLinYu’s Debut Fantasy Novel

Alchemised is the debut dark fantasy novel by author SenLinYu. Rebecca Hilsdon, Editorial Director at PMJ, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Suzannah Ball at WME in a two-book deal, with North American rights going to Emily Archbold at Del Rey. Set in a fantasy world riddled with the magical crafts of necromancy and alchemy, Alchemised follows the story of a young amnesiac healer as she finds herself being taken as a prisoner-of-war. The war itself is a brutal one being waged against those who have discovered the secrets of immortality. With certain secrets stored in her lost memories, the protagonist must fight to protect what she herself cannot even remember, whilst also grappling with an unexpected enemies-to-lovers romance. In her Substack announcement, Sen divulged that the novel “will grapple with themes of trauma and survival, legacy and the way that love can drive one to extreme darkness.” Alchemised is the reimagined version of a fanfiction previously written by SenLinYu. It is set to be published in hardback in the autumn of 2025.

Faber Lands Swanson’s New Novel A Talent For Murder

Peter Swanson’s new psychological thriller A Talent for Murder is set to be published by Faber after the success of his previous festive miniature title The Christmas Guest. The new psychological novel is set to follow the mysterious and whirlwind romance of subdued librarian Martha and her husband Alan. After their seemingly perfect relationship starts to turn sour, Martha begins to suspect that Alan’s travelling plans hide a sinister secret, as a trail of dead women seems to follow his every move. To uncover the truth, Martha turns to her friend Lily for help; however, Lily might have a few secrets of her own. Angus Cargill, Publishing Director of Faber, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights to A Talent for Murder from Caspian Dennis at Abner Stein, acting as a representative of Sobel Weber Associates. Cargill commented that the new novel is “a sublime and shocking page-turner for this summer” (The Bookseller). A Talent for Murder is set to be published on 04 July 2024.
