Sustainable Futures: The SYP 2023 Autumn Conference

By Georgia Appleyard

This year's Society of Young Publishers' Annual Autumn Conference will take place on 2 December 2023, centred around the theme of Sustainable Futures. Covering three main streams; Environmental, Digital and the Workplace, the conference will take place at Oxford Brookes University, and will feature panel discussions and workshops exploring current industry trends including AI and audio publishing.

The SYP is a non-profit organisation which supports publishing hopefuls to break into the industry. This year's conference will be particularly helpful for those wishing to get into publishing, or in the early stages of their career, as industry experts will share their perspectives and advice. Attendees will also have the chance to meet recruitment specialists at the careers clinic, with plenty of opportunities to network at the post-conference reception as well.

SYP Oxford Co-Chair Sophie Shepherd commented, "We are very excited to bring the Autumn Conference back to Oxford, offering publishing hopefuls, junior professionals and industry experts to speak about the current landscape and the future of the publishing industry."

Alisha Raggatt, SYP Oxford Co-Chair, elaborated on this year's theme: "We will cover topics from the rise of AI in literary creation to how companies aim to take care of their employees' mental health. We're feeling incredibly inspired by the diversity of avenues this theme opens up to us."

Early bird tickets were released on 18 September, with prices starting at £20, and will be available until 29 October. After this date, general release tickets will go on sale, with discounted prices available to under-25s and SYP members. Full ticket details can be found here. Sustainable Futures is kindly sponsored by Bloomsbury Inspired Selection.
