Are you a customer service superstar? Interested in transferring your skills to the world of publishing? Hachette UK Distribution are searching for a proactive Customer Service Advisor to join their Customer Services team.
This position is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience and learn from a leading book distribution company. It offers an initial training period, provides the chance to develop your skills, learn about distribution and other elements of the industry as well as work with a number of well-known publishers.
Your main responsibilities will be to work on your own initiative to communicate and maintain strong relationships with their global customer base and publishers. You will be preparing and processing orders whilst liaising with multiple departments to solve problems and ensure special requirements are met according to deadlines.
The team is looking for a candidate that embodies their Customer Service Vision; someone who is passionate about consistently delivering spectacular customer service. You will be a confident, outgoing communicator who thrives when collaborating with multiple departments and client publishers. No publishing experience is required but if you have previously worked in hospitality, retail, customer service or a call centre then they want to hear from you.

Are you interested in working in children’s publishing? Do you aspire to have a career in Foreign Rights? Walker Books are currently searching for a motivated Foreign Rights Assistant to join their team!
Reporting to the Foreign Rights Manager, this is a varied entry-level position that provides the opportunity to work on debuts, award-winning and bestselling children’s books in a mixture of mediums.
In this role you will support the International Foreign Rights team selling rights worldwide. Key responsibilities include supporting sale fulfilment in assigned territories to Account Managers, coordinating printing requests, managing the Foreign Rights inbox, organising the team’s archive and managing finished copies. You will be expected to conduct market research, stay on top of industry trends and developments as well as assisting in arranging industry events such as book fairs. You will also provide general administrative support to sales, including scheduling meetings, managing correspondence and maintaining client records.
Walker Books is looking for a can-do team player with exceptional interpersonal skills who is confident in liaising with multiple departments. You should have excellent time-management, administrative and organisational skills with demonstrable ability to multitask and prioritise your workload according to deadlines. Interest in foreign cultures and foreign languages would be advantageous. You must be able to work independently on your own initiative and have sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office. No prior experience is necessary for this role.

Do you want to support a division at one of the largest publishing groups in the UK? Interested in working across the many specialist imprints at said publisher? John Murray Press is looking for an Administrative Assistant.
Working across imprints like Laurence King and John Murray Languages, you will be assisting in the teams’ smooth running from admin work to supporting publishing programmes. Tasks include organising meetings and taking minutes, ensuring metadata is updated, relaying reports and chasing missing material, assisting with invoices and contracts, taking note of reprint corrections and sending copies for review. You will also be expected to help across editorial from permission requests and acquisition to supporting the management with new freelancers.
The ideal candidate will be organised with strong communication skills in order to work with multiple teams inside the company and externally. As you are expected to work across a variety of imprints and manage multiple workloads, you will be adaptable and able to prioritise tasks. Teamwork is also a must as is the ability to manage work on your own initiative.
