Agents’ Assistant at A.M. Heath Literary Agents

Supporting three agents across their list of authors and estates, you will be expected to read and report on submissions, produce editorial notes on manuscripts, manage databases and scheduling, oversee contracts and take on office admin support.
The ideal candidate will be capable and hardworking, with an enthusiasm for the commercial side of books. They will also be organised and resourceful. While previous publishing experience isn’t necessary, you will need an editorial eye backed by strong writing and communication skills as you will be reading manuscripts across a variety of genres.
The role is based at their London office in the heart of Holborn. They work on a hybrid model, where the candidate is expected to go into the office a minimum of three days a week. If successful, the start date is Monday 9 June.

Designer at Design Eye

Are you a highly creative designer with experience in children’s book publishing? Do you want to create high-quality designs for bold, original novelty and gift books for children? Quarto is looking for a designer to join their Design Eye team based in London.
Design Eye works with expert authors and amazing illustrators to produce exciting, clever, immersive books for children, with a list spanning from novelty popular culture and STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) topics to activity, reference and picture books.
This position is a varied role, perfect for a highly creative person. As Designer you will report to the Art Director and work with the commissioning team to curate new designs, find outstanding illustrators and contribute ideas. You will also assist the editorial team by completing design tasks for both live titles and reprints, ensuring work is of the highest standard and produced on time.
Responsibilities will include: designing concept covers and spreads for live titles and new ideas, producing design material for book fairs and sales presentations, commissioning freelance designers and illustrators as well as briefing and managing them, researching trends in illustration and finding great illustrators to suit specific projects and budgets, resolving technical issues and carrying out pre-press checks, managing corrections for reprints and backlist titles and working to agreed deadlines and within budget.
The successful candidate will be an experienced, versatile designer with a keen eye for detail and proficiency in children’s book design. Passion for high-quality design is key to bring your creative flair to all work and to stay on top of illustration and design trends. You must be positive and proactive and have clear communication skills. Organising your work to effectively balance numerous projects and meet deadlines while maintaining an excellent standard of design and attention to detail is also a must. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud is paramount, and you must be able to work collaboratively with both internal and external colleagues. You also need to show that you can accept design feedback, solve problems and bring design solutions.

Trainee at Delia Derbyshire Day

Are you interested in learning key transferable skills in project management? Would you like to be involved in delivering an exciting heritage project? Delia Derbyshire Day (DD Day) are looking to recruit a Trainee Project Coordinator to join their team.
In this role you will report to the Project Manager of Delia Derbyshire Day, helping to organise and deliver the Delia Derbyshire Day’s tenth anniversary project and associated events. As a trainee you will develop skills such as liaising and coordinating with project staff, partner organisations, venues and volunteers. You will attend regular meetings with the Project Manager to assess how the project is progressing, assist with marketing (including social media and web content) and day-to-day administration as well as book meeting rooms, travel and accommodation for the team. You will also evaluate the project by collecting feedback and develop your awareness of safeguarding, health and safety and first aid issues. Most importantly, you will be championing the work of the DD Day organisation, its charitable aims and objectives.
The team is searching for a highly motivated candidate who is keen to learn, organised, excellent at communication, a great problem solver and who values diversity and inclusion.
This is a temporary, part-time freelance role based in Manchester, with some opportunity to work from home and a contracted period from 26 May 2025 to 30 January 2026. You will be expected to work a half to a full day per week, with more days leading up to DD Day in November.

Skill Up for Free with Adobe and General Assembly

By the end of the programme, you’ll be able to leverage AI, execute marketing and creative projects and stand out to employers. And, even better, it’s free! Not only will you benefit from the training, but you’ll also be able to enhance your CV and portfolio, prepare for interviews and build your personal brand.
There are two training courses on offer: AI Creative Skills for Creatives and AI Creative Skills for Marketers. AI Creative Skills for Creatives offers the chance to master Adobe’s Firefly, Express, Photoshop, Illustrator and Premiere Pro. During this eight-week course, you’ll become an expert in content, video and audio production. AI Creative Skills for Marketers is a ten-week course that will teach you all there is to learn about channel strategy, campaign launches and data analysis. There will also be an opportunity to upskill in Adobe Photoshop, Firefly and Express.
To apply, you must be between eighteen and thirty years old and have an income of less than £30,000 a year. Your education must not exceed a bachelor’s degree, and you must be part of a community that is underrepresented in tech. Applicants who are interested in the AI Creative Skills for Creatives course must have at least one year of experience with Adobe tools or equivalent practical experience. All applicants should be willing to commit eight to twelve hours per week for eight to ten weeks.
