Designer at Illumicrate

Closing Date: 4 July 2025

Salary: £30,000–£33,000

Location: Remote


Are you a book subscription box lover? Do you have a passion for graphic design, creativity and books? Illumicrate – the original UK book box subscription – are looking for a talented Mid-Weight Designer to join their creative Design team, working fully remotely.


The ideal candidate will be hardworking with a creative mind, exceptional typographic skills and the ability to curate beautiful work. You will collaborate closely with talented illustrators to develop and enhance their stunning illustrations as well as with the design team to manage books from the initial concepts to final design. The ability to collaborate and work as a team is paramount to this role.


As a Designer, you will manage projects to ensure deadlines are met, acknowledge feedback and implement changes to designs, working both independently and collaboratively to create stunning designs for a range of genres including fantasy, science fiction, horror and modern romance. Some tasks will include proofing design files, general art-working, scoping out new design solutions and printing techniques and reading manuscripts of upcoming books on the design schedule. You will also contribute to the book selection process!


The successful candidate will have at least three years of experience in some form of creative design role, a portfolio displaying creative flair and technical skills, proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, experience preparing files and a strong understanding of publishing and market trends. Attention to detail while working under pressure is key and you must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Confidence in working on your own initiative is also fundamental to this role due to it being a fully remote position.

Production Controller at Gemini Books Group

Closing Date: 10 July 2025

Salary: £22,500–£24,000

Location: Woodbridge


Want to work at an independent publisher that specialises in illustrated books for children and adults? Interested in the production side of publishing? Gemini Books are now looking for a Production Controller.


The role will have you report to the Production Manager on a busy production team where you will support and manage different areas of the department. Key responsibilities involve managing projects to ensure deadlines are met and resolving potential issues, efficiently scheduling and calculating print costs, communicating with external printing companies, establishing and maintaining good relations with customers regarding shipping orders, invoices, files and approvals.


The ideal candidate will need to be organised and be able to work under pressure, taking the initiative to keep track of tight schedules. You will also need to be a confident communicator, corresponding with multiple people internally and externally to ensure production goes smoothly.


The role is based in their Woodbridge office and is a full-time position.

Marketing Assistant at Bookspeed

Location: Leith, Edinburgh


Want to pursue marketing at an exciting time alongside a growing team? Interested in a role where you can help deliver book ranges to a grand selection of retailers and heritage attractions, including Oliver Bonas and the National History Museum? Bookspeed are on a mission to find a Marketing Assistant to help them spread their cause.


The role will require you to report to the Marketing Manager, while playing a key part in creating and scheduling content across their social handles and email lists – all while the new website launch is being prepared. You will be expected to handle content ideation with creative freedom to engage audiences, write copy for website and promotion purposes, support customer-focused digital campaigns and assist with artwork.


The ideal candidate will have an interest in marketing, while understanding basic marketing principles. You will have a creative eye for copy and design with some experience in Adobe Creative Suite and thrive in executing creative projects while meeting deadlines.

This position is a part-time role with an option for hybrid. Flexible hours and alternate working schedules will also be happily considered.
