Publicity Assistant at Bonnier Books

Looking to break into publishing at an independent publisher with a friendly and supportive team? Interested in publicity and want to learn more? Bonnier Books UK has opened an entry-level position for a Publicity Assistant to join their Adult PR team across a broad selection of genres.


Supported by your line manager and peers, you will be expected to take responsibility for administrative tasks on a rolling basis and handling logistics and reporting to the Publicity Director. These tasks could include assisting the Publicity department with invoices, calendar management and budget sheets; managing general enquiries through phone and email; supporting publicity campaigns from pitching, press releases, booking travel, etc.; updating media and events contacts on the regular; arranging group pitches to journalists and festival/event programmers; help organise and attend events and festivals; manage external databases using tools like Roxhill; and many more. You will also be able to work on your own solo campaigns as you deepen your knowledge in the role.


With the expected workload varying from day to day, the ideal candidate will be someone who is proactive and able to multitask. You will be someone who excels in their time management and is able to judge their ability to know their workload limits. Confidence in your written (copywriting) and communication skills will be handy, paired with a great attention to detail. A passion for books and media is also expected from a role like this, as is showcasing your genuine passion in a Publicity career.


This will be a full-time hybrid role working from their London office. You will be expected to come into the office a minimum of two days.

Customer Service Advisor at Hachette

Hachette UK Distribution is recruiting a Customer Service Advisor with their recent expansion into a new facility. Join a leading UK book distribution company – one of the most advanced distribution centres in Europe – as they continue to offer world-class service.


This role offers the chance to grow within the Customer Service team, gaining crucial experience in distribution and insight into the publishing world. Collaborating with the Operations and Credit Service teams, you will offer quality service towards publisher clients worldwide. You will be expected to engage with internal and external partners by email and telephone calls with regards to order processing, executing delivery timeframes, investigating claims (including shortages and damages), refunds and other general admin duties.

The ideal candidate will be someone who is passionate about delivering the best customer service and who can implement solutions with ease. You will be proactive in dealing with issues and be confident in conversing with a wide variety of people and organisations. If you have had prior experience in hospitality, retail, customer support, call centre, etc., this role may be perfect for you.


The full-time role will have an initial training period in their Didcot office where you will be expected in the office for a minimum of two days per week.

Royalties Assistant at Peters Fraser and Dunlop

Are you a graduate with strong numeracy skills? Interested in starting your publishing career at one of London’s leading literary agencies? Peters Fraser and Dunlop is seeking a motivated individual to join their team as a Royalties Assistant.


Reporting to the Head of Royalties, the Royalties Assistant will use their eye for detail to ensure authors are paid accurately and on time. This important role will involve processing financial data, as well as interpreting contracts and liaising with others involved in the publishing process. Typical responsibilities include creating contract records in their rights system (Bradbury Phillips), preparing tax returns, distributing payment advices and handling author queries. The successful candidate will also verify the accuracy of royalty statements and extract data from them.


The ideal candidate will be a graduate who is confident in manipulating data and highly skilled in Excel. They will possess strong attention to detail and some knowledge of Bradbury Phillips or other rights/royalties software. Ideally, they will have some prior publishing or accounts payable experience, though this is not essential. Excellent organisational skills and communication are also a must.
