Duckworth Books is seeking a Publishing Assistant on a part time, temporary basis to assist with tasks such as editorial and marketing research, writing copy, creating assets, maintaining and updating their online data systems, helping with mailouts, monitoring the email accounts and general administrative support.
You will gain an understanding of how the publishing process works, be contributing towards a new project and be part of a shared team.
You need to have great attention to detail, be able to notice trends, have a critical eye and be a good communicator. You will also be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, have a willingness to learn and have a passion for books.

The candidate will be assisting on tasks such as reaching out to bookshops and book trade contacts, creating seasonal and promotional sales sheets, data entering as well as online sales platform quality checks. You will also be handling mail-outs and updating press lists.
You will get an understanding of how sales and in-trade marketing within publishing works, get to work on your team building skills and work on programmes such as Excel, Photoshop and InDesign.

Editorial Assistant – Lund Humphries

Saqi Books are looking for a Publishing Intern to join their programme on a part-time, six-month basis. You will get to work across all departments, gain knowledge on the industry and experience of working in an independent publishing house. You will be researching sales methods, different markets and more, as well as assisting with presentations, events, logistics and campaigns. You will also be writing reports and copy, proofreading and liaising with freelancers.
You must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, able to prioritise a varied workload, have organisational and computer skills, have communication and problem-solving skills as well as great attention to detail. Experience of working in an office environment as well as working within a team and having an interest in books and publishing as well as creative flair is also desirable.
