Publishing Assistant – Duckworth Books

Salary: National Minimum Wage

Location: Richmond, London


Duckworth Books is seeking a Publishing Assistant on a part time, temporary basis to assist with tasks such as editorial and marketing research, writing copy, creating assets, maintaining and updating their online data systems, helping with mailouts, monitoring the email accounts and general administrative support.


You will gain an understanding of how the publishing process works, be contributing towards a new project and be part of a shared team.


You need to have great attention to detail, be able to notice trends, have a critical eye and be a good communicator. You will also be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, have a willingness to learn and have a passion for books.


Must be claiming Universal Credit and be between the ages of 16-24.

Sales and Publicity Assistant – Duckworth Books

Duckworth Books is seeking a Sales and Publicity Assistant on a part time, temporary basis. The candidate will be assisting on tasks such as reaching out to bookshops and book trade contacts, creating seasonal and promotional sales sheets, data entering as well as online sales platform quality checks. You will also be handling mail-outs and updating press lists.

You will get an understanding of how sales and in-trade marketing within publishing works, get to work on your team building skills and work on programmes such as Excel, Photoshop and InDesign.


You will need to have great attention to detail, be a good communicator, have a willingness to learn and a passion for books.


Must be claiming Universal Credit and be between the ages of 16-24.

Editorial Assistant – Lund Humphries

Lund Humphries are looking for an Editorial Assistant to provide commissioning and administrative support to their commissioning team and to authors.


Key responsibilities include reading authors’ sample chapters and reporting on them to the commissioning editors, providing guidance to authors during the writing process and practical support with sourcing illustrations, and much more!


The ideal candidate will be a versatile team-player, with a high standard of written English, good communication skills, and the ability to work under their own initiative. The position would suit someone with some experience of editorial work and an interest in art and architecture who is keen to learn about all aspects of illustrated-book publishing.

Scouting Assistant – Eccles Fisher Associate

Salary: £23,000

Location: London


Eccles Fisher Associates are looking for a humanities graduate to work on tasks such as data entry, diary management, reporting on books, liaising with clients as well as general office administration and scouting responsibilities.


The candidate must be organised, have great attention to detail, be able to juggle a varied workload and have good communication and IT skills. Some publishing work experience and being able to use a Foreign Language would be desirable as well as a demonstrable interest in commercial and YA fiction.

Digital Support Assistant x 2 – Hodder Education

Publishing Intern – Saqi Books

Location: London (hybrid work available)


Saqi Books are looking for a Publishing Intern to join their programme on a part-time, six-month basis. You will get to work across all departments, gain knowledge on the industry and experience of working in an independent publishing house. You will be researching sales methods, different markets and more, as well as assisting with presentations, events, logistics and campaigns. You will also be writing reports and copy, proofreading and liaising with freelancers.


You must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, able to prioritise a varied workload, have organisational and computer skills, have communication and problem-solving skills as well as great attention to detail. Experience of working in an office environment as well as working within a team and having an interest in books and publishing as well as creative flair is also desirable.
