Editorial Assistant, Edward Elgar Publishing

The editorial department at Edward Elgar Publishing is looking to add an Editorial Assistant to their team. They specialise in social science and law publications, and have offices in the UK and USA.


Edward Elgar Publishing is looking for someone interested in law and the social sciences with a strong academic background. Prior publishing experience is not necessary for this role. A successful candidate must display an excellent eye for detail, be able to multi-task well, display great organisational capabilites, be self-motivated and have strong communication skills. Marketing Assistant, Dictionaries at Oxford University Press

Salary: £21,000

Location: Oxford/Hybrid


If you have ever used the Oxford English Dictionary (OED) and are interested in working for the Oxford University Press, check out this Marketing Assistant position in the dictionary department. Oxford University Press offers a hybrid work schedule where they would require the successful individual to spend approximately two days per month in the Oxford office.


If given this role, your main responsibility will be to support the launch of the new Oxford English Dictionary website. Your duties would include building relationships with stakeholders, implementing global marketing strategies and campaigns, supporting website content creation, and developing marketing and communication strategies for other academic language products.


The ability to work in a fast-paced and detail-oriented environment is essential. You will need to be organised and adaptable, with excellent written and verbal communication skills, good time management, and the ability to effectively collaborate with those in and outside the department. Marketing experience is preferred but not essential.

Literary Agency Assistant, LBA Books

Salary: £24,000 pro rata

Location: London


A fantastic opportunity has arisen at LBA – a leading literary agency that represents bestselling authors and brands around the world.


Your responsibilities will include contract work (e.g. checking drafts, sending for signatures, logging author and agreement details); accounts (e.g. raising invoices, sending payment advices to authors, liaising with accountants); office/admin (e.g. managing book fair appointments, minute-taking); website work (updating the agency’s website and social media); author queries, and submissions support (e.g. responding to and tracking unsolicited manuscript submissions).


Being a proactive team player with great organisational skills is key. In addition, the successful candidate will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills, strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills and excellent attention to detail. The role is part-time, working three days a week.

Publishing Assistant Apprentice, Adam Matthew Digital (non-graduates)

Salary: £16,000 pro rata

Location: Marlborough


Adam Matthew Digital are looking for a Publishing Assistant Apprentice to join their team.


Key responsibilities include: research (including writing and proofing editorial content for projects), checking digital primary source images, organising and creating metadata for archival collections, liaising with technical partners, running technical processes, and testing user experience of digital resources. Additional duties include visiting archives, attending and reporting on conferences and contributing to the company’s social media.


The successful candidate will need good organisational skills, including strong interpersonal skills, the ability to problem solve and manage tasks independently, good communication skills (verbal and written), excellent attention to detail and strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel. The candidate will also need to show an interest in academic research, history and culture, and creating resources that help other people learn.

Editorial Assistant, Oneworld

Closing Date: 3 October 2022

Salary: £22,000–£24,000 per annum, depending on experience

Location: London


Oneworld are looking for an Editorial Assistant to join their supportive and collaborative team, working principally on their non-fiction titles.

Your primary responsibility will be working with their editors and providing support for the author-publisher relationship from the contract to the finished book, including overseeing the critical path for books, second edits on texts, collating edits, and drafting promotional and marketing copy. You will also clear image and text permissions, perform pre-print and fact checks, and maintain their title database.


The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated graduate with excellent proofreading and copyediting skills, good general literary and publishing knowledge, strong organisational capabilities and a flair for writing excellent copy. You will have excellent Microsoft Word skills and great attention to detail.
