Editorial Assistant at Head of Zeus

Closing Date: 12 November 2022

Salary: £25,000

Location: London (hybrid option available)

If chosen for this role, you will receive the opportunity to work on approximately twenty titles a year in a multitude of formats. There are five main areas that you will assist in: text, covers, sales material, author liaison and administration. Some of the job duties will include – but are not limited to – reading through submissions and providing feedback, conducting image research, proofreading, preparing cover copies, assisting with social media campaigns and working with authors from the copyediting stage and onwards.


The ideal candidate will have knowledge about the life of a book from manuscript to final copy, be passionate about non-fiction publishing and be up to date on the current book market and its trends. They will also need to display strong prioritisation skills, be an excellent written and verbal communicator, possess copywriting skills, have an eye for detail and have experience with Microsoft Office – specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Production Assistant (Academic and Professional Division) at Bloomsbury

Location: London (hybrid option available – Wednesday and Thursday allocated office days)


Bloomsbury is looking for a Production Assistant to join their Academic and Professional Division. They offer a fully office-based option and a hybrid working option, where the two allocated office days are Wednesday and Thursday.


The Production Assistant is responsible for maintaining Bloomsbury’s digital-asset management system, working with eBook conversion and print on demand programmes, assisting with desk editing and helping with the print purchasing process for reprints and new-in-paperbacks.


Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel is essential for this position. Additional skills required for this role include time management, organisation, and detail orientation. Sales Assistant at Eurospan Bookstore

Location: London (hybrid option available – minimum 2 days in office)


Eurospan are hiring a Sales Assistant to join the premier sales, marketing and distribution agency serving academic, professional and STM publishers across the global market. They are looking for an assistant to join their small and dynamic sales team, primarily supporting the Sales Managers and Head of Sales.


You will be working closely with colleagues across other departments and utilising a global network of agents and sales representatives to build and maintain relationships with key customers, ensure retail, wholesale and online booksellers have the best access to title information and increase the reach of the publishers’ titles. Your key responsibilities will include managing the general enquiry email inbox on a daily basis, maintaining customer contact databases and producing and sending regular data feeds to trade customers and reps. You will also liaise internally to arrange stock shipments direct to customers as necessary, assist in the production of new books catalogues and provide administrative support within the Sales department.


This is an ideal position for someone seeking their first role in publishing and no previous experience is required. You will need to be educated to A-level or higher, have some proficiency in Microsoft Office software and have outstanding organisational and time management skills. You should have excellent spoken and written communication, a keen eye for detail and be a self-starter. You should also have an understanding of bookselling or the academic/library book market and a creative flair.

Editorial Assistant at Octopus Publishing Group

Octopus Publishing Group are looking for an Editorial Assistant to join their team!


From regular administrative duties, running systems and processing invoices, to researching and reporting on proposals, designing pitches and helping run their successful puzzle book and mapping lists, the successful candidate will be a key member of the commissioning and editorial team. They will provide editorial assistance during every stage of the commissioning and acquisition process, from the development of concepts and the creation of pitches, cover and selling copy, through to origination, publication, launching the titles and beyond.


The ideal candidate will be bright, upbeat, curious and pro-active with a can-do attitude. They should have a keen eye for detail, excellent proofreading and copy writing skills and be a highly organised multitasker able to prioritise their workload efficiently. Most importantly, they will have a proven passion for non-fiction, both illustrated and narrative, and be focused on developing their career within this area of publishing. Marketing Executive at Eurospan

Salary: £26,000–28,000

Location: London (hybrid option available – minimum 2 days in office)


Eurospan has a second opportunity, this time within their marketing department. Within this role, there will be direct contact with a wide variety of publishers from around the world, offering unique experience of multiple areas of academic, professional and STM publishing. This is an ideal role for someone looking to take the next steps in their publishing career. This position will involve creating multi-channel campaigns, organising and attending author events and supporting the department with developing strategic campaigns across all subject areas.


This will be the idea role for a candidate with an interest in academic, professional and STM publishing and who has a strong ability to organise a large workload.
