International Rights Assistant (Spanish Speaking) at Dorling Kindersley (DK)

Publishing Assistant at Nick Hern Books

Nick Hern Books, a publishing company that specialises in producing plays and theatre books, is looking for a Publishing Assistant to join their team!


The Publishing Assistant will be tasked with a number of administrative duties, including acting as the first point of contact for inquiries, maintaining the company website, managing mail and supply orders and handling invoices. The role also entails assisting the production team with proof-reading and copy-checking.


An ideal candidate will be interested in theatre and publishing – a background in both is preferred but not required. Journals Assistant at Bristol University Press (BUP)

BUP is keen to appoint a Journals Assistant to provide administrative support to the Journals Team, as well as editorial and marketing support. Based on demonstrable skills and experience, BUP may appoint a Senior Journals Assistant.


Responsibilities include acting as the first point of contact for enquiries in the journals mailbox, liaising with authors about open access requests, processing finance documents and gathering data for journal board reports.


The ideal candidate will have experience working in an administrative or clerical role, be proactive and organised, have strong clerical and IT skills, excellent numeracy skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel). The candidate will also have strong communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work under pressure whilst balancing multiple projects. BUP is looking to appoint a Journals Editorial Assistant within their Journals Team. This role entails providing editorial administrative support to external journal editors, as well as liaising with and assisting the BUP Journals Team.


The ideal candidate will have proven experience of working in a relevant administrative role (ideally within a journal editorial/publishing role), have basic knowledge of the publishing process and be proactive and organised. The candidate will also have strong clerical skills, a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, good communication skills and be good at handling multiple deadlines. Design Assistant at Knights Of

Knights Of is an award-winning independent children’s publisher who are looking for a talented and creative design assistant to work across their list.


With guidance from the senior designer, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to create original book covers and layouts. This role will help the candidate develop an awareness of trends. This role will also present the candidate with the opportunity to research and commission illustrators for book projects.


The main responsibilities of this role include liaising with team members within various departments to ensure projects are delivered, attending department meetings, ensuring work is backed up and digital files are complete, assisting with various design tasks, creating assets for teams and social media platforms, and designing sale and marketing materials for Knights Of books.


The ideal candidate will have experience with InDesign, Photoshop & Illustrator. Additionally, Knights Of are searching for an individual who can prioritise projects whilst keeping to multiple deadlines. The ideal candidate will have the ability to respond to and take on board constructive criticism in a professional manner, be able to work in a small team focusing on inclusive children’s books, and will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
