Digital Support Assistant – Hachette UK

Closing Date: 31 March 2023

Salary: £26,500 based in London, £23,850 based outside of London

Location: London or Didcot, hybrid work with a blend of three in-office and two work from home days


Hodder Education at Hachette UK is looking for a Digital Support Assistant to join their team.


The Digital Support Assistant will work with the Zendesk ticketing system in order to support digital customers with their online subscription services. This position will put you in contact with consumers over the phone and through email. Additionally, you will receive the opportunity to analyse systems and processes and provide feedback as you see fit.


The ideal individual will possess strong written and verbal communication skills, exemplary customer service skills and be highly organised. Being able to quickly learn and utilise IT systems will be immensely helpful in this role. The company prefers for the candidate to be interested in education.

Publicity Assistant – Hachette UK

Hachette UK are searching for a Publicity Assistant!


The Publicity Assistant (Literary) will be able to provide support on campaigns for a rich roster of high-profile authors who include Monica Ali, David Sedaris, Colson Whitehead, Hollie McNish, Tom Holland, Roxane Gay and many, many more.


You will work closely with the Publicity Directors, supporting their campaigns and assisting with author visits and events, as well as liaising with the media. You will be responsible for the efficient management of the department’s day-to-day administrative processes. You will be part of the creative process from the outset, providing feedback on acquisitions proposals and covers, designing the bi-annual catalogue and creating regular publicity newsletters and internal updates. There will be plenty of opportunities to work on your own campaigns as you gain experience in the role.


The ideal candidate will be confident, enthusiastic and efficient and bring fresh ideas to the role. You must be highly organised, as well as able to multi-task and prioritise effectively. Exceptional communication skills, both written and spoken, are required, as well as excellent social media skills. Knowledge of Word, Excel, Canva and PowerPoint is vital. A strong interest in BookTok is also a plus!

Sales and Marketing Admin Assistant – Flying Eye Books

Location: East London


Flying Eye Books are recruiting for a Sales and Marketing Admin Assistant to join their team.


If successful, some of your key responsibilities will include assisting and supporting the Head of Sales and Marketing in day-to-day tasks; preparation and collation of assets for UK and US sales conferences and presentations; managing the submission of materials to distributors in both the UK and US; ensuring schedules are met and advising the wider team when this is unlikely to be the case; managing Biblio, SeeView and My House updates; and assisting Head of Sales and Marketing on Amazon campaigns. You will also get to attend trade fairs, launches, signings and events as required.


The ideal candidate will be interested in developing a publishing career in Sales and Marketing and will play a leading role in connecting readers with Flying Eye’s books as well as driving brand awareness, interest and sales across all areas of activity. The candidate should be comfortable working as part of a team but also under their own initiative. You should be highly motivated, organised and have a meticulous eye for detail to assist the Head of Sales and Marketing in the running of a busy sales department.


This position would suit a recent graduate looking to start a career in publishing.

Administrator – Edinburgh Book Festival

Location: Edinburgh, hybrid


Do you enjoy attending literary events and book festivals? If so, check out this open Administrator position at one of the largest book festivals in the world: the Edinburgh International Book Festival!


If you are the successful applicant, you will be responsible for a range of tasks in the areas of office management, executive support, general office administration, festival administration, HR and aiding the festival team with their mission of environmental sustainability. The book festival team is looking for someone with prior experience in administration, excellent communication and collaboration skills, exceptional organisation and a can-do attitude.


This is a full-time and permanent position. You will be joining a team of twenty-five, which grows to a team of approximately 125 during the peak of the festival. The 2024 festival will take place from the 12 August to 28 August.
